Summer Reading for Grownups!

ImageThe weather is warming up, school is letting out and SUMMER READING FOR GROWNUPS  is on at the Southfield Public Library!   You can Catch a Dream with every book you read.  It runs from June 1st to August 3rd.

Our program is easy – sign up at the 2nd floor Fiction Desk, keep track of the titles you listen to or read and get one entry for every title read for  the grand prize drawing.  Four lucky winners will get a roomy tote bag and the opportunity to fill it to the brim at our Friends of the Library Book Cellar.

We grownups have also entered into a friendly competition with the Youth Room –  who will read the most this summer?!  So keep track of your time spent reading, as well.

Need some inspiration for what to read?  Here’s a few titles to get you started…..

The Spellman Files by Lisa Lutz –  The Spellmans are a clan of private investigators… mother, father, sisters, brother… who don’t know when to stop investigating each other!  A funny, quick read, reminiscent of Janet Evanovich’s One for the Money series.

Knife of Never Letting Go by Patrick Ness– For fans of the Hunger   Games, this YA title takes you to a world where all thoughts can be heard and a boy is running for his life.

Wild: From Lost to Found on the Pacific Crest Trail by  Cheryl Strayed – Foundering in her personal life, the author decides to hike from the Mojave Desert to Washington State along a trail that barely exists.  Along the way, she finds rattlesnakes, bears, and more strength than she ever thought she had.

We’d love to hear from  you about the books you’re reading this summer.   Sharing good books is one of our favorite things here at SPL.
